Why Go to College or a Public University?

With all that's happening on college and public universities is it really necessary for you to send your child to higher learning facilities? While I do see the impact of higher education and the benefits it can bring to "post-high" school graduates the concerns of safety always come to mind. With today's crimes and shootings on both the high school level and college or public universities should you be thinking alternatives for your child? With today's technology is it really necessary for your child to go to a college or public university? The internet is here to stay and education is right in the comfort of your own home. There's nothing better than being able to inspire and educate your children in both atmospheres. Remember, all of life is an on going education.
Think about it, while most of your local and national chain businesses are downsizing and promoting from within their own family trees if it's a family owned business, I wonder sometimes why go to college or public university? Now, I know in some fields of professions you would surely have to send your child away to a particular school to advance their education. I have always seen the need for professions and how important it is to go to school to become a prominent doctor, lawyer, engineer, post-secondary educator, or etc. It's necessary to have some sort of diploma, certificate, degree, license or vocational education experience behind you; higher education is a must today. As a parent you want to encourage your child to love and pursue higher education.
The need is staggering, while most "low-paying" jobs demand an associate degree or better, why not suggest to your child to get educated to expand their own career choices, instead of letting them think they will get a higher education to work for "corporate" America. Think outside the box and consider getting your child educated to benefit their own career of choice to advance their own learning abilities to be able to compete in the work force of today. The education you give your child or children now and in the years to come, will be the best education they could ever get, and it won't come from a book or a public setting; neither will it cost much financially; because it's all free and came from the heart.
Your child or children are an asset to you and not a liability. Look, Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of your womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3.
